Dedicated in February 1933, Barksdale Air Force Base is now one of the largest bases in the 
United States. Barksdale is our largest employer, with more than 17,000 active duty military members and civilian personnel, creating an economic impact of over $1 billion. Home of the B-52 and Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale is not only an integral part of our economy and community but is also a key component of the nation’s strategic deterrence.
